Stonewards: How to Revive a Downed Teammate

The short answer

You carry them. There is no hold-to-revive on the spot: a downed dwarf has to be physically brought back to the campfire and resurrected there.

This is one of the most searched Stonewards questions in every language — English players search “how to revive”, Portuguese players search “como reviver no stonewards”, Russian players search “как возродиться” — and it is asked constantly because nothing in the opening minutes explains it.

Where the mechanic comes from

The campfire revive is officially documented, and it predates Early Access. Devblog #05, published May 1, 2026 during the playtest phase, states it directly: “It is now possible to resurrect a teammate at the campfire.”

The Steam community’s practical answer matches, and adds the location: the campfire sits to the right of the King inside the stronghold. Learn where it is on wave one.

A related quality-of-life change landed in the demo period too — the June 12 demo update lists “Improved campfire healing”, so the campfire does double duty as a healing point.

The second revive point: the Bed

Hotfix 0.1.8 (August 26, 2026) reveals a second one, in the form of a bug fix: “Fixed an issue where a player disconnecting while being revived on a Bed could leave the Bed permanently unusable for revives.”

Two things follow from that sentence. There is a Bed that performs revives, and before August 26 a disconnect mid-revive could brick it for the rest of the run. If you played co-op earlier and a revive point stopped working for no visible reason, that was the bug.

When the body is stuck

Ragdoll physics have been the messiest part of this system, and the studio has said so.

  • Hotfix 0.1.5 added “an option to recover/teleport stuck dead players as a temporary safeguard while we continue working on ragdoll physics issues.” That is the Unstuck / Teleport Back button.
  • Hotfix 0.1.8 then “fixed the Unstuck / Teleport Back button for dead players so it now works correctly” — so the safeguard itself was broken for twelve days.

If you are on 0.1.8 or later and a corpse is inside geometry, the button is the intended fix.

Bugs that made reviving look broken

Three separate fixes in the record explain most “revive is bugged” reports:

VersionFix
0.1.6Player velocity was not reset on death, which could launch players into the air after being revived
0.1.8Dying while dancing or emoting in multiplayer could leave player input blocked after revival
0.1.8Unstuck / Teleport Back button for dead players repaired

If you were revived and then could not move, or shot into the sky, that was the game and not you.

Healing, as distinct from reviving

Reviving brings back a dead dwarf. Healing keeps a live one alive, and that is the Healer’s job — a class that got substantially better in Hotfix 0.1.7: the healing projectile’s collision was widened, healing projectiles now deal a small AoE on impact, and as the studio noted, this “allows Healers to shoot at their feet to heal themselves.” The same patch let the Healer heal the Hunter’s Companion, and let the Companion be healed at the Fireplace with the Fireplace upgrade.

If a rare staff seemed to make no difference to your healing, note that Hotfix 0.1.8 fixed Staff rarity not correctly affecting Healer healing — a bug that lasted the whole first fortnight.

Playing solo

Reviving is a co-op mechanic by definition. Solo, a death ends the run. Stonewards is listed as both Single-player and Online Co-op on Steam, and the store copy frames solo as a supported way to play, not a fallback — “Rally the crew or go full lone-dwarf.”
